We have now fished up to 90% of world's large fish and an ever increasing number of species are faced with extinction.

Swordfish and some species of shark are 'the tigers of the ocean' - beautiful predators in extreme peril. However unlike tigers their plight is largely unknown and despite their desperately low numbers they still find themselves served up as steaks for the BBQ.

You can do your bit by choosing to buy more sustainably caught seafood such as barramundi to lower the demand for threatened and endangered species. For a guide to sustainable seafood (click to download guide)

Whale Festival 2013 Sun June 23

Come along to the Marine Discovery Centre in Bondi Pavilion to celebrate the 4^th annual Whale Festival @Bondi on Sunday 23^rd June from 10.00am to 3.30pm.

* Meet “Venus” the life-size 15metre inflatable Humpback whale and calf;

* Win great prizes (including a ProDive family whale watching boat trip!);

- by decorating your own ‘Sea ofthe Whale Tail’ [download a tail here];

* You can also learn lots more about whales and what we can do to protect them with experts from whale conservation organisations at info-stalls on the Pavilion forecourt.

* Come on a FREE guided whale-watching walk to Marks Park Headland with marine mammal experts 1.30~3.00pm
